Episode #3 Why Early Shearing Improves our Ewes and Wool

Welcome to our sheep barn.  We raise Coopworth sheep for both meat and wool.

We learn something new each year.

This year we have decided to shear them early.  It took some research and asking around before I chose to shear in the middle of winter.

I respect that every farm management system does things differently.  Not all management systems will work with all farms.  You have got to figure out what works for you and what doesn’t.  The big point to take away from this is find what works for you and makes your management more efficient.

I want to share with you my 4 reasons why I chose to.  Also, at the end of the video I show you a little frugal tip I use to keep me newly sheared ewes warm.

Happy Sheep Farming

Love your points! Thanks for sharing. I am new to sheep and always learning. (And I have to appreciate anyone who uses words like “palpate” and “fetus.”)
