Beauty and Craftmanship that Never go out of Style

“Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.”

This quote embodies all DIY-ers.  Beauty is seen in the things you touch and create.  We all have it within us to create something out of nothing whether it be with words, wires, food, fiber and wood.  Our creativity speaks for us using a silent language.

A couple years ago my husband has introduced me to the hand-turned wood realm.  That tiny little seed grew into us finding a lathe immediately after.   I never knew of such a piece of machinery until the day we picked it up.

After we brought it home, I did what any other wife would do and that is to make a list of all the products I wanted him to make for me.  On this list: yarn bowls, regular bowls, knitting needles, drop spindles and whatever else I came up with.  He happily obliged.

We have a nice selection of drop spindles, which is one of my favorite spinning tools.

I love the colors of his yarn bowls.  He would find old walnut, cherry, oak and maple in barns and junk stores.  These treasures were hidden in corners as junk of furniture.  He found a beautiful solution to reclaiming them.  Even our drop spindles are made from reclaimed wood.

And here he is, sculpting a beautiful bowl out of a block of wood.

It is amazing to see him at work.  He can see a special bowl out of every block of wood he finds.

Here is a list of more of his products.  Check it out.

Happy Farming,
