My Kids Knitting List for Autumn

Do any of you continue to knit through the summer?  Me, definitely. I rarely put my needles down.  I knit through traffic, tv, kid fights and anything else that is someone’s distraction.

Knitting has not been on the back-burner, but writing has.  Knitting is my anti-depressant pill.  And a little bit of it goes a long way and I get a cool sweater, pair of socks or hat to wear.  It is a win-win situation.

The chill of autumn is here and it has become a tradition for my kiddos to  make  a list of all the wonderful, fashionable knit wear I could make them.  This actually brings tears to my eyes.  To even think that my kids would pine for knitwear that their mom has made. They aren’t interested in items that have a Mudd, Hannah Montana or some other teeny bopper label on it.

So here I am back to the drawing board of figuring out the style of socks, sweaters and “what knots” to make them.  And yes, I will definitely be knitting quite a few things for myself.

My baby has been wanting a pair a knit blue sock (color of Thomas the Train).  I am not quite sure why because you have to wrestle him to the ground to  ground to wear socks.  Potential reason – his brother and sisters wear their all the time.

Flash Forward – He does love them and where them quite a bit.  This is my own pattern.  I will be giving you  the directions sometime soon.

I have promised my hubby  another sweater so here is yarn.  I really enjoy the color combination of a navy blue and grey tan together.  I think I am going to use the saddle style sleeves and shoulders.  My son also wants a sweater with the same colors.

For my oldest daughter out comes this black yarn for a bolero or shrug.  She doesn’t like long sleeves at all.  This is a wool yarn, but she doesn’t seem to mind it.  Yes, I have started already on her project.

For my other daughter we have some funky sock colors going on.  She loves to wear knit socks.  So, she and the rest of the family will be getting a new pair of knit socks.

This is just a sampling of the colors they have chosen.

I am going to knit my mom a pink shawl from this Jaggerspun Zephyr silk wool.  This yarn is so neat to knit with.  She is a breast cancer survivor so her color shall be pink.

Last but not least I have  a couple projects going for myself.

Here is a beautiful red wool sweater that I have begun.  I plan to get it done before Christmas.  It is so much fun to be working cables.  This is my own design, so I shall be giving you the directions sometime soon.

Now this is cool mohair yarn.  I am not sure what I am going to make from this.   But my thoughts have been swirling around a bolero style of some sort.

What plans, what wonders. I cannot wait to tackle this list before Christmas.

I am wondering “will I succeed?”

I would love to hear what knitting or crochet plans you have for this winter.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting,
